Acid Wash Character

Acid wash isn’t a print or a dye it’s a controlled treatment run on a finished heavyweight garment, so the character is baked into the fabric itself. Every piece lands one-of-one within a range you approve first.

One-of-one marbling

The drum treats each garment slightly differently, so no two pieces are identical; the uniqueness is the product, not a defect.

Wash-after-construction

The hoodie is fully sewn and then the seams, ribbing, and body all take the wash differently, which is where the vintage depth comes from.

Heavyweight base

Built on 400-500gsm fleece specifically so the finished garment keeps a premium, durable hand after the wash softens it.

Controlled variance range

Your approved sample sets the range; bulk QC checks every piece sits inside it. Pieces outside the range don’t ship.

Where does a cheap wash go wrong?

Skip the neutralizing step, and the chemistry keeps working on the fibers after the hoodie leaves the factory. Rush the drum, and you get blotches instead of marbling. Wash a thin base, and it comes out limp and papery. Each one lands on your customer as a hoodie that looks tired in the wrong way. That is why we build on 400-500 gsm, neutralize fully, and hold every piece to the range you approve.

The anatomy

Acid wash is a process product: the garment is fully constructed first, then treated, which means the wash chemistry, drum time, and neutralizing are as much a part of the spec as the sewing. Slight piece-to-piece variance is inherent and is the appeal; what we control is the range of that variance.

How the finish is made

Wash-after-construction is what gives acid wash its depth; the seams, ribbing, and body all take the treatment slightly differently, which is where the vintage character comes from.

Cut, sew & decorate

The hoodie is fully constructed first, and if you’re printing, wash-compatible inks go on before treatment so the print ages with the garment.

Acid & stone wash

Treated in-drum for the faded marbled effect. Drum time and stone load are set per your approved sample; more time, more contrast.

Neutralize & soften

Rinsed and chemically neutralize so the process fully stops, then soften for a worn-in hand that doesn’t feel stripped.

Dry & finish

Each piece carries a unique character by design. Final QC checks that the variance stays inside the approved range.

Choose how hard it’s washed

More drum time means more contrast. This is the biggest decision on an acid-wash hoodie, and you make it on your sample, not on a guess.

Light wash

The look:
A soft haze over the base color. Marbling you notice up close.

Choose it for:

Variance:
The tightest range. Pieces look closest to each other.

Base colors that wash well

Dark and mid-tone bases give the strongest marbling. We approve your wash on a strike-off of your actual base color before sampling.

What each base turns into

The wash lifts color out of the fleece, so every base fades toward a lighter version of itself. Here is the direction each one usually goes.

Charcoal

Smoky grey marbling. The classic vintage black.

Faded navy

A denim-like blue with a worn, washed-out finish.

Washed brown

Warm sand and tan tones. Earthy and workwear-ready.

Mauve

A dusty, faded pink-lilac. Soft and unexpected.

Post-wash means these are the measurements your customer actually receives, not the size before the wash. When you compare against another hoodie, measure it flat the same way: chest armpit to armpit, length from the high shoulder point to the hem.
